What is love? We got a bunch of questions asked by brothers and sisters on the subject of Love. So we got a couple to speak and share with us their experience, and also getting some of those questions answered.
Our speaker for this special assembly was John and Michelle Jiz de Ortega. Formerly from Singles For Christ and now Couples For Christ. John and Michelle went over common topics of relationships of today such as: hook up culture, divorce statistics, abortion, and how it affects us today.

This past week we were able to get a teaching from Tita Maria Villanueva on a lesson of Taming the tongue. As a little change of venue, we actually had our teaching at St. Justin Martyr church in Anaheim. We learned that since we are called to serve God we must make sure that we lead with the Holy Spirit, especially in the way we speak. In order to do that we must: Pray, Think, then Speak.
Tremendous Power in our Words
Our words have a lot of power behind them, they can be used for encouragement yet also be used for discouragement. Can you remember a time in which you were lifted up by a person’s words? How about a time where you were deeply hurt by someone’s words? I sure you can remember moments where you have felt both.
“The mouth speaks what the heart is full of”
– Luke 6:4-5
With that in mind, we must be careful with what we say to others. As it is said in Luke chapter 6, “The mouth speaks what the heart is full of”. Do you agree with this? We say what we really feel in our hearts. So if God lives within us, shouldn’t the Holy Spirit guide our words? You may have heard, “think before you speak” but lets take that further. Let us challenge each other to pray, think, then speak. Continue reading Pray, Think, Speak

This past week we had our monthly assembly at St. Mary’s and we had the pleasure of having two speakers this week. This week’s talk was about Financial Stewardship and our speakers were sister Jaina and Tito Vince. We were also blessed with brother Jed’s first time leading worship!
What is Financial Stewardship?
We are merely stewards of God’s blessings. But what does that really mean? Let’s break down what a steward and a blessing is.
- someone who protects or is responsible for money, property, etc
- a person whose job is to manage the land and property of another person
Parable of Talents (Matthew 25:14-30)
- help and approval from God
- something that helps you or brings happiness
Some of the ways that we can be stewards of God’s blessings is by sharing them with others. By sharing our blessings with others, our blessings become multiplied by the others that we share with. Some of the blessings that we can share with others are Time, Talent, and Treasure.

We had our “forefather” kuya JY (John Yumul) give us a teaching that older members may recognize, especially if you were at this year’s Conference. It was similar to the talk that Kuya Shok gave as the last talk of the Conference. The message may have been heard before but it is always a great reminder and a great teaching that can mean different things for each person at different parts of life. We were reminded that through God we are Changed, Challenged, and Chosen.
