Covenant Orientation 2015

This past weekend we took time to explain what it meant to be a part of SFC with some of our newest members. We had a great time and shared some time to get to know each other a little better and have some fellowship. We went over the mission and vision of SFC, prayer, scripture, sacraments, strengthening the family, being a Christian in the work place, loving and serving the poor, financial stewardship, and SFC culture.

We are SFC, We Walk For Life!

Over the past two weekends, our chapter as well as other chapters have joined together with thousands of other people in two cities to rally, walk, pray, and share our belief that every life matters. It does not matter how small, a person is a person. We believe that every person should choose life, as Mary did with Jesus.

Throughout the post there are some of the things that a few of us learned or wanted to share from these events and experiences.

Check out more pictures and videos by reading the rest of the post below!

A Walk For Life Testimony

This past weekend, I participated in my first Walk For Life. Plainly stated, it was one of the most moving weekends of my life.

We started the day with Mass at one of San Francisco’s beautiful cathedrals, and I was blessed to sit next to this family of 3 and hear their story:

It was their second year attending WFL. First time they went last year…the mom was still pregnant with baby Eli. The parents tried having a baby for sixteen years, and finally, God has blessed them with a son. Now, as I sat next to them, Eli is now nine months old and is now one adorable, vivacious baby!

As I reflect on what this weekend meant to this couple, I realize how blessed I am to have parents who chose life over other means, and to have a God who has breathe life in me.

As I continue to reflect and offer my thanksgiving to God during Communion, I looked to my right and was deeply humbled to be walking alongside such inspiring people: nuns and priests from different orders wearing an assortment of vestments. They always seem to be praying about something. Hmm, I wonder what it could be.

The speakers prior to the walk were charismatic with testimonials so heart-wrenching, but those weren’t my favorite part about the weekend. My favorite part were the men. Yes, the men.

I was amazed to see how many men joined the walk (the ratio was about 2/3 men within a half a mile radius, from my count)..Men from all walks of life: men in t-shirts, men in jean jackets, men in suits, men in their teens, men in their seventies…This issue is no longer the plight of women. It never has been. It is the plight of the entire family.

It is a common misconception that this walk–this issue–is about women and their rights (or as the dissenters claim, “the lack thereof”). Although, as I started walking amongst the 50,000 marchers on Saturday, I discovered that it is something more than that. It is about Responsibility.

At the point of conception to the time of death, It is the responsibility of parents to rear their younglins and teach them what they know; the responsibility of women as Mothers to care for their spouse and child; the responsibility of men to step up as Fathers to protect and provide for their family; The responsibility of the government to protect the inalienable rights of EACH human–from embryo to adult–to “LIFE, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. We have come to a generation in which people and entities shy away from their responsibilities.

…and this has got to change.

This weekend has opened my eyes in ways mere paper print, news coverage, and hearsay cannot. Experiencing it firsthand puts a real face to the “Pro-Life” Movement. I know I may still have some unanswered questions, yet, I know it is my responsibility to find the answers. Indeed, one has gotta “walk the talk” to KNOW the talk.

So, if you haven’t been, I highly recommend going next year. I cannot wait to hear your stories! 🙂

SFC SoCal Cluster Christmas Party

On Saturday, December 20, 2014 the SFC Christmas Cluster Party was held at the Annunciation Church in Arcadia. Members from SFC groups all over Southern California were present.  The hall was decorated with Christmas decorations on stage and on the tables.  Mostly everyone in the room who attended wore a Santa hat, ugly Christmas sweater or both. We all had a great time celebrating the season with food and drinks all around.

There were great music, thanks to our DJ, tito Ricky De Guzman AKA Ricky Minaj or DJ Rick G-rhymes. The night kept getting better. We learned new worship songs. One of the worship songs that we learned was “Brother Jesus.” The games (rock, paper, scissor game and wrapping the present game) were fun. There were plenty of winners throughout the night and also SFC Buxx earned. The last 30-40 minutes of the party, dancing was enjoyed thanks again to our resident DJ Ricky.

Check out some of the photos and videos from the event below. More videos and photos will be added later. Check out the actual post to see it all!

CFC Thanksgiving Mass

At St Lorenzo Ruiz Parish in Walnut, Couples For Christ and their family ministries held their annual Thanksgiving Mass. Chapters from all over SoCal gathered to celebrate the Holy Eucharist together and give thanks to God for the past year.

For those of you that missed it, or even those that made it and want to listen to the Homily again, here is a video of it. I also included download links for the live recordings of the CFC Choir and the whole community singing for worship. Just right click on the links and select “Download Linked File”.

Holyween Party

For Halloween, SFC Orange County and SFC South Bay joined together in a Disney themed costume party. There was food, fun, games, a short teaching about Halloween, and of course worship! Check out the gallery below for all the awesome costumes that were worn and even some home-made.

Brother RJ recorded the worship session from his GoPro and shared it with everyone. So whether you made it, or couldn’t make it out that night, check out the worship session we had featuring a Ninja Turtle, an Ice Queen, a Storm Trooper, Iron Patriot, a Lion Queen, Darth Vader, and a Magic Carpet!
