Basketball: SFC OC Orange vs SFC OC-SD Gold

This past Sunday we had a couple basketball match ups that were a whole lot of fun! We had just barely missed OC White’s game, but I was able to make it to the OC Orange vs OC-SD Gold match. There was something special about this match, for the first 5 minutes of each half of the match we had both teams’ sisters play on their own. Check out  the post to see the great time that everyone had.

Singles For Christ is a community of unmarried young adults from different parishes in the Orange County area, other chapters of the community are spread throughout not only California but throughout the United States.

The Christian Life Program is the way that we introduce you to our ministry to promote a healthy faith walk with God, while strengthening each other through fellowship and teachings. We help our community through serving different charities, and serving at church services.

If you are even the little bit curious of what SFC is all about, check us out on Saturday afternoons. For more information go to the Christian Life Program page and sign up for more information.

Stations of the Cross – Prayers and Reflection PDF

What is Lent?

As I go through my Confirmation class I am learning different ways to learn about my faith. This week in class we learned about Lent and deciding what to give up for Lent. What is this about giving up something for lent and isn’t there something about fasting as well? Let’s take a moment to reflect a little bit about the upcoming Lenten season.

Lent

What is Lent? Our catechist shared with us a video that gave a very good explanation behind why we sacrifice things during Lent. So let’s take a couple minutes to watch that.

So what did I learn from this video? One of the things that i really took out of this video is the realization is that fasting allows us to feel our physical hunger, that in turn allows us to bring physical feeling and meaning to the act of fasting and getting us in touch with our spiritual hunger. But what does that mean? Some of the things that we have issues with in our faith is that as man we find it hard to believe and feel something that we often can’t see; fasting allows us to feel our hunger and when we do it for Christ it is as if we can feel our hunger for a relationship with Christ.

Fasting is often seen as “giving up” something, but the greater thing to see it as is preparing one’s self for something greater. So when you look at it this way, we are preparing ourselves for the celebration in which we call Easter. Think of a time where you are going to have an amazing feast, maybe a birthday dinner or Thanksgiving or even something like having your favorite meal at your favorite restaurant. If you know that you will be having that feast, wouldn’t you restrain yourself from snacking and having a meal before you go to that feast? Fasting for Lent is a way to prepare ourselves for the feast to celebrate Christ conquering death and freeing us from our sins. Continue reading What is Lent?

Happy Holyween

Yesterday night we had our annual Holyween party, our version of a Halloween party with games and fun activities. The theme was PUNny Costumes, so lots of people came dressed to their best of pun-based costumes.

Through the night games were played, and games were won. People san karaoke on their own free will, while many others were forced to do so for the fundraising of the night. People even won movie tickets and SFC Bucks to be used for SFC events. Jamie and Jed won the raffle, but it was none other than Sailor Mon himself that won the costume contest.

Check out the pictures below and check out all the fun we had!

Love Forum

What is love? We got a bunch of questions asked by brothers and sisters on the subject of Love. So we got a couple to speak and share with us their experience, and also getting some of those questions answered.

Our speaker for this special assembly was John and Michelle Jiz de Ortega. Formerly from Singles For Christ and now Couples For Christ. John and Michelle went over common topics of relationships of today such as: hook up culture, divorce statistics, abortion, and how it affects us today.

Watch and learn from this year’s Love Forum!

SFC Conference 2015 Love More – The Wrap Up

Welcome! Just last week SFC USA celebrated their 21st Annual National Conference in South San Francisco. If you made it out, I hope you learned a lot and will take the message to heart. If you missed it, here is a little summary of what you missed.

Don’t forget to create an account or sign in using facebook, there are some bonus content that you are missing out on if you don’t.

Love More

This year’s theme of Love More comes from John 21: 15-17.

So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My lambs.” He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Shepherd My sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Tend My sheep.

John 21:15-17, NASB

Let’s see what is in store for us when we learn what it means to Love More.

Conference 2015 – Love More

This past weekend, 47 members from the OC Chapter made it out to South San Francisco to represent for the SoCal delegation for the 21st Annual CFC Singles For Christ Conference! It was an amazing journey this past year to get us up to that point, and an amazing experience to go thru. We are called to Love More!

SoCal was once again the largest delegation of members with over half of the people there for the Conference. San Diego’s Jed Elomina also won the Earliest Bird award for being the first member to check in for the Conference. #SoCalUnited also performed for the worship on Sunday.

Stay tuned for a much larger post in the near future. I will be making that post around the time that the Post-Conference Assembly will occur which will be on Saturday September 12th. Stay tuned for more info!
